Ash Clouds or pandemic scares heighten awareness of the fact that we are not skilled up to operate without travelling. In business travel is synonymous with work but where’s the proof that it really creates anything? What is it that all that travel actually brings to the party because I’m pretty sure it’s not productivity. Getting businesses working better without moving is going to be the biggest challenge for ‘old’ businesses and people as the new and emerging organizations (and knowledge workers) overtake, working it out from scratch having never been dependent on such 20th century addictions… When it comes to working without moving we may have the technology but we don’t have the mindset or the motivation. Yet….
